Premium Wedding DJ in Jamaica: The Ultimate Afro-Caribbean Fusion for Dr. Brianna & Dr. Tosin

Ocean Coral Spring Hotel Wedding 876 Sounds. H10 Resort Beach Ceremony Kiss (trelawny, Jamaica)

It Started on the Dancefloor (The Backstory)

Some clients find us on Google; others find us in the middle of a sweat-soaked dancefloor.

We first crossed paths with Dr. Tosin Fagbemi back in October 2022 at the wedding of Vanisha and Victor Ojo in Ocho Rios. We noticed him immediately, he was the guest dancing up a storm, matching every beat we dropped. When it came time for his own wedding to Dr. Brianna Belgrave, he knew exactly who to call.

When two doctors tie the knot in paradise, you expect precision. But when one is Jamaican and the other Nigerian, you expect a party.

Dr. Brianna Belgrave and Dr. Tosin Fagbemi didn’t just want a wedding reception; they wanted a “Bacchanal.” Hosted at the stunning Ocean Coral Spring in Trelawny, their union was a masterclass in cultural fusion. This wasn’t just a celebration of love; it was a collision of the best rhythms from the Caribbean and West Africa, brought to life under the tent with over 200 guests.

This wasn’t just another booking; it was a reunion. And this time, it was their turn to lead the “Bacchanal.” At 876 Sounds, our goal was simple: bridge the gap between Kingston and Lagos, keeping the energy sky-high from the first cocktail to the final “rave” on the dancefloor.

The Vision: A Virtual Meeting of Minds

Planning a destination wedding requires trust. During our video consultations, we dug deep into their vision. It wasn’t enough to just “play music”; we needed to understand the texture of their day.

They wanted a celebration of Brianna’s Caribbean roots and Tosin’s Nigerian heritage. We mapped out a musical journey that would honor both cultures without losing the flow. That consultation was the blueprint that allowed us to move seamlessly from a soulful ceremony to a high-energy rave.

The Ceremony: R&B, Afrobeat, and Ocean Breezes

Set against the stunning backdrop of the Ocean Coral Spring beach, the ceremony was a masterclass in musical storytelling. We stepped away from traditional classical tracks to curate a playlist that felt deeply personal:

  • The Parents’ Entrances: The groom’s parents set a joyous tone as they entered to “Skelewu” by Davido. The bride’s parents followed, making their way down to the feel-good classic “Lovely Day” by Bill Withers.
  • The Groom’s Entrance: We honored Tosin’s Nigerian roots right from the first step with the smooth Afrobeats of “My Life” by Adekunle Gold.
  • The Bride’s Entrance: Brianna walked down the aisle to the timeless R&B ballad “For You” by Kenny Lattimore, creating an emotional, cinematic moment.
  • The Exit (Recessional): The second they were pronounced husband and wife, we flipped the switch. They recessed to the high-energy “Good Spirit” by Full Blown, signaling to every guest that the formal part was over and the party had officially begun.

The Reception: A Rave Under the Tent

The magic of a premium wedding experience starts before the dancing officially begins. This is where the synergy between a great MC, a creative DJ, and a bespoke planning team shines. The brief for the reception was clear: Endless Dancing. Working alongside the electric MC Blazze, we curated a dinner vibe that kept heads bobbing with Reggae covers and lower-tempo Afrobeat. The tone was lively but conversational, creating a soundtrack that had guests asking, “Who is this DJ?” or using Shazam between courses. It was the perfect warm-up for the high-energy explosion that was about to follow.

Once the entrances were done, the tent transformed into an interactive, room-wide celebration. With 200 guests spread across 20 tables, we executed the highly engaging “Dancing Tables” strategy.

Randy and MC Blazze moved through the room, interacting with the guests and having each table select one hype song that represented their table. These requests were keyed in and instantly queued up on DJ Pablo’s iPad. The energy in the tent lifted to incredible heights as each table came out and performed to their chosen anthem. It was a flawless, spontaneous mix of genres that kept everyone on their toes.

Just a few of the unforgettable table selections included:

  • Table 1: “Cocoa Tea” – Kes
  • Table 3: “Lebeh Lebeh” – Ding Dong
  • Table 4: “Jamming” – Bob Marley
  • Table 5: “I Serve a Living God” – Mercy Chinwo
  • Table 6: “Joha” – Asake
  • Table 11: “Love is Wicked” – Brick & Lace
  • Table 12: “Shabba Moda Pot” – Dexta Daps
  • Table 13: “Ye” – Burna Boy

Visual Magic: Cold Sparks & Peak Moments

A premium event is a feast for the eyes as well as the ears. To elevate those peak moments — like the couple’s grand entrance and the massive crescendos during the open dancefloor rave — 876 Sounds provided Cold Sparks. These safe, non-flammable sparks added that necessary “wow” factor, creating picture-perfect moments that looked incredible in person and even better on camera.

The Verdict

The #ForeverFagbemi celebration was proof that a wedding is more than a ceremony. With the right team, a destination wedding can be seamless, high-energy, and unforgettable. By blending 80 Nigerian flags with American and Jamaican spirits, we didn’t just host a reception; we created a memory.
