Acoustic Design
Wedding DJ & MC in Jamaica
Your DJ reads the room and builds the set. From the Signature Experience upward, a dedicated MC carries the programme. Neither does the other's job.
The two-person dynamic
Most wedding entertainment in Jamaica is sold as one person holding a microphone and a laptop. That person is either reading the dance floor or reading the running order. They cannot do both at once, and the moment they try, the room feels it.
876 Sounds runs a DJ and a separate MC at every celebration from the Signature Experience upward. The DJ never leaves the music. The MC never touches the deck. Our lead MC is bilingual in English and Spanish, and we can put at least three people on a microphone unscripted when a programme runs long or a speech runs short.
DJ Pablo personally performs every Foundation and Signature Experience. We take one wedding a day, island-wide.

DJ · Round Hill ResortRedundancy
Every critical component travels in duplicate
Mixer, amplification, playback, wireless. If one fails, the spare is already on site and already patched. Changeover is under two minutes, and most rooms or outdoor spaces never know it happened.
Continuous sound, ceremony to last dance
Ceremony, cocktail hour and reception are three different spaces with three different acoustic problems, and most of the failures at a destination wedding happen in the gaps between them. We carry separate systems to each space rather than moving one system three times. There is no silent walk between the ceremony and the cocktail hour, and we never borrow the venue's house system.
- Direct input for live musicians at the ceremony and the reception
- Handheld wireless microphones for vows, readings and blessings
- No lavaliers, deliberately, because on a beach or a cliff in wind the failure modes are not worth the discretion
- An audio feed to your video crew at almost every event, so the film carries the vows

Ceremony · Carey IslandThe music
Open format, mixed live, built from a collaborative list you and your planner shape before the day. Not a playlist on shuffle.
Where it matters more: we have carried African weddings well into double figures and South Asian celebrations including baraat processions, for which we own wireless battery-powered speaker systems, including a rolling setup that moves with the party through the venue. If your celebration has a cultural spine, say so on the discovery call and we will build the set around it rather than around a standard reception.

Questions
What couples and planners ask
How much does a wedding DJ cost in Jamaica?
We do not publish a rate card. Hours, spaces, equipment load and travel differ at every destination wedding, and a single published figure would be wrong for most couples who read it. What we will say plainly: 876 Sounds is a considered investment rather than the lowest quote on the island, and couples who book us are usually protecting the part of the day guests actually remember. Send your date and venue and we will put a figure in writing.
Do you provide an MC as well as a DJ?
A dedicated MC is included from the Signature Experience upward. At Foundation, you are welcome to bring your own MC, who works on our microphones. The MC is never the DJ doubling up.
Can the DJ also act as MC?
We do not offer that, by design. A DJ who is announcing is not reading the floor, and the transition back into music after every announcement is where the energy in a reception leaks away.
Do you cover the ceremony as well as the reception?
Yes. Continuous sound across ceremony, cocktail hour and reception is standard in every experience, with separate systems in each space rather than one system moved three times.
What happens if your equipment fails during our wedding?
Every critical component travels to site in duplicate and changeover is under two minutes. The audio system has never completely failed at an 876 Sounds event.
Can our live musicians play through your system?
Yes. We carry direct input for live musicians at both ceremony and reception as standard. Live instrumentation performed over the DJ set is a separate offering within the Ultimate Fusion Experience.
How far in advance should we book?
We reserve dates 12 to 18 months out and hold one wedding per day, island-wide. A 25 percent retainer secures the date.
Do you travel outside Kingston?
Yes. 876 Sounds works island-wide, including Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Negril and Portland, at resorts, villas and private estates. You can see the resorts and villas and estates we have worked at.
Can you handle a wedding where many guests speak Spanish?
Yes. Our lead MC is bilingual in English and Spanish.
